Distressed behaviour within school can be incredibly difficult for staff to deal with if they don’t have the relevant understanding and skills. Our team offers comprehensive training on inset days and during the evenings. We’re also able to advise staff on how to better understand their SEND students’ needs and the developmental stages of all the young people they work with.

EBSA Support

Our EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) support is designed to gently rebuild a child’s sense of safety, confidence and belonging around education. We work collaboratively with schools, families and the child to understand what sits beneath the avoidance – whether that is anxiety, unmet needs, social pressures, learning barriers or previous negative experiences.

Support usually begins in the home, where the child feels most secure. This allows us to build a trusting relationship, reduce pressure and help the child develop regulation, emotional literacy and coping strategies at their own pace. Alongside this, we work closely with parents and carers to strengthen routines, communication and confidence in supporting their child.

When the time is right, we carefully create a personalised, trauma-informed plan to support gradual reconnection with school. This may include short visits, safe spaces, flexible timetables, in-school support and staff guidance, always led by the child’s readiness. Our aim is not simply attendance, but helping children feel safe, seen and able to learn again.
